Detail
For many years, efforts for a new development in the central part of Petržalka, which still has an undeveloped center of the estate, took place under the official name of Petržalka City. Today, this project is publicly established as SOHO – the new center of Bratislava's fifth district bounded by Rusovska Street, the tram line, Romanova Street and Croatian side channel. In addition to the comprehensive masterplan, our task was the development along the emerging Petržalka boulevard, which is taking shape in the extension of Jantárová street towards Republic Square.
SOHO B1 represents the first of a series of buildings that will model the western line of the street corridor. A two-story parterre with civic amenities of a commercial and non-commercial character in contact with the street will create a background for the full development of urban life. The priority is to create the impression of a continuous and reasonably compact urban street of a pleasant scale. At the same time, object B1 represents a screen that protects the inner park-like environment of SOHO from the traffic of the street. Both sides – the dynamic urban side and the more peaceful side, designed as a residential landscape – are cross-connected by a public passage that will support pedestrian movement through the area. The SOHO project is created in cooperation with the Pantograph studio.
