VEŽA MLYNY
commercial and office center
Nitra, crossroad of Štúrova and Československej armády street
2011
Detail
A newly built high-rise landmark on the main pedestrian and traffic routes, with the Mlyny shopping center, a meander of the Nitra river, a historical part of the town and a legendary hall of the Agricultural University designed by architect Vladimir Dedeček, all situated nearby. The shifted window grid of created “sculptures” represents an homage to artistic abstraction that Dedeček designed at the front of the university campus.
Three entities stacked together of the same width but different heights and inclinations add value to surroundings by giving it lightness from both a visual and mass point of view. At the bottom are situated three floors of shops and services as well as a multipurpose hall with the promise of cultural events. Above all this are offices and a hotel.
